Workplace success is getting harder and harder to quantify through traditional real estate metrics such as cost per square foot, occupancy cost per head, square feet per person, occupancy costs as a percentage of revenue or sales and so on.

In our current knowledge economy, business success flows from intangibles including ideas, information, and expertise.  Even CFOs are asking questions about their space that look deeper than cost efficiency.

-          Does the office environment promote the exchange of ideas and encourage interaction?

-          Does the workplace communicate the company’s mission and values?

-          Does the space positively impact the individual job performance?

-          What effect does the space have on fostering teamwork and innovation?

-          What is the effect of the space on morale and commitment?

-          Does the space reinforce the culture of the organization?

Trying to answer these questions can uncover new insights and lead to more effective locations and workplace strategies – not only on an individual location basis, but across an entire real estate portfolio.
